"When one is pretending, the entire body revolts."
Anaïs Nin
It has taken me most of my life to learn how to simply be—without performance, pretense, or pressure. Without managing how I was perceived. Without contorting myself to fit environments that rewarded silence, politeness, or likability over truth.
What I’ve come to understand—through lived experience, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and Eastern philosophy—is this: Authenticity is Medicine. Your health and happiness will thrive when your outer life reflects and aligns with your inner truth.
Authenticity and feng shui are deeply connected because both are ultimately about alignment—between inner truth and outer environment.
Authenticity is internal feng shui. Feng shui is authenticity made visible.
The Feng Shui Connection
In feng shui, a space is considered harmonious when the Qi (life force) can flow naturally, without obstruction, distortion, or excess. Authenticity works the same way in a human being. When you are living in truth—rather than performing, people-pleasing, or suppressing parts of yourself—your energy flows cleanly. There’s less friction, less drain, and more vitality.
Here’s how they directly relate:
1. Your space reflects your inner life. Feng shui teaches that your home is a mirror of your subconscious. Clutter, broken items, unused rooms, or décor that no longer represents you often signal areas where you’re holding onto outdated identities, beliefs, or obligations. Authenticity shows up when your space matches who you actually are now, not who you think you should be.
2. Misalignment creates energetic leaks. In feng shui, blocked or chaotic qi leads to fatigue, stagnation, or stress. Inauthentic living does the same. When your environment supports a version of you that isn’t real—career you’ve outgrown, aesthetic you copied, routines that don’t fit—energy leaks out. Aligning your space with your true needs restores vitality.
3. Integrity is spatial consistency. In feng shui, integrity means using each area of your home with intention and respect. A bedroom that supports rest, a kitchen that supports nourishment, a workspace that supports focus. Living authentically means the same thing: letting each part of your life serve its true purpose, rather than forcing misuses to “make it work.”
4. Feng shui is not about aesthetics—it’s about honesty. True feng shui isn’t about decor trends or “looking zen”. It asks honest questions:
Does this object support my life now?
Does this space reflect my values?
Does my home tell the truth about who I am becoming?
When authenticity guides feng shui, the result isn’t perfection—it’s resonance. Your home feels like you. Your energy settles. Your actions become clearer. And from that place, alignment spreads outward—into relationships, work, health, and contribution.
“Integrity is making sure the things you say and do are in alignment.”
Billie Jean King
Why Authenticity Feels So Hard (And Why It’s Worth It)
We live in a society where many work and family cultures value rewards appearances, aesthetics and optics above all. These toxic systems are built around lies, silence and secrets instead of honesty and truth
Calling out injustices and speaking the truth isn’t disloyalty- it's bravery, it's accountability.
True Authenticity is sometimes messy, loud, lonely, and deeply confronting. But it’s also liberation.
Not everyone will be able to meet you in your depth, and that’s not a reflection of your worth. Authenticity doesn’t guarantee belonging everywhere. It guarantees belonging to yourself.
Alignment work is important because misalignment costs energy. When you live or work in spaces that don’t reflect who you truly are, your system is constantly compensating. You’re managing discomfort, suppressing truth, and expending energy just to function.
Over time, that shows up as fatigue, indecision, anxiety, creative blocks, strained relationships, or feeling “stuck.” Feng shui and self-development work address the root of that drain, not just the symptoms.
Taoist and Buddhist teachings echo this wisdom.
Taoism teaches wu wei—effortless action, moving in accordance with one’s nature.
Buddhism teaches that suffering arises from attachment, illusion, and false identity.
Both traditions point to the same truth: Authenticity is the return to your original nature—before conditioning, before coping strategies, before survival masks.
Everything changes when you become your own antennae. Rather than receiving and absorbing the frequency of those around you, you begin emitting a unique energy that is all on your own.
Don't match energy. Set it. You are not a thermostat for other people’s moods. Live in your own peace, pace and truth.
Alignment In The Body
Authenticity isn’t just an emotional state or sensation.
It’s physical.
It's physiological
It’s hormonal.
It’s cellular.
It’s the nervous system settling.
The organs exhaling.
The spirit coming back online.
It’s the moment your body finally exhales and says: “You’re safe to be you now.”
True freedom is having nothing to chase, nothing to prove, and nothing to hide.
The TCM Perspective
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, emotions are not abstract concepts. They are energetic forces that directly affect organ systems. Emotional misalignment isn’t “all in your head”—it’s something the body must metabolize.
When your external life doesn’t match your internal truth, energy stagnates. Over time, stagnation becomes symptoms.
Here’s how authenticity supports each major organ system:
Liver — Truth Restores Flow
The Liver governs the smooth flow of Qi and emotions, especially anger, frustration, and suppressed expression. Authenticity releases emotional stagnation, restoring vitality, creativity, and momentum. When you stop swallowing your truth, the Liver can finally do its job.
Lungs — Truth Lets Grief Move
The Lungs hold grief, sadness, and the ability to let go. Authenticity gives grief permission to breathe, freeing the chest, deepening respiration, and restoring emotional space. What we don’t express, we suffocate.
Spleen — Truth Calms the Mind
The Spleen is affected by worry, overthinking, and rumination. Living authentically reduces mental looping, supporting digestion, clarity, and groundedness. When you stop performing, the mind can rest.
Kidneys — Truth Builds Courage
The Kidneys store Jing (vital essence) and govern fear and willpower.
Authenticity conserves vitality and strengthens courage, replacing chronic fear with quiet inner stability.
Heart — Truth Restores Connection
The Heart houses the Shen (spirit). Authenticity opens the heart, allowing joy, connection, and emotional balance to return. When you’re not hiding, your spirit can settle.
Keep doing what feels right to you, not what looks right to others.
We are all mirrors and we choose eachother based on the reflection we get of ourselves in another. Sometimes we choose people with cracked or foggy mirrors because we haven’t fully learned to see ourselves yet. You can’t clean someone else’s mirror though. You can only clean your own.
Discovering Your Truth
Who are you and what do YOU actually like, when no one else's opinions, expectations or judgements matter. If you’re unsure what’s authentic for you, start getting curious and ask yourself:
If no one could see or praise this choice, would I still want it?
Where did I first learn to like this—and do I trust that source?
If I let this go, would I feel relief or loss?
Does it energize me, or help me perform who I think I should be?
If it became unpopular tomorrow, would it still matter to me?
Is this aligned with who I am now—or a past self I’m afraid to outgrow?
Do I enjoy it in real life, or just the idea of enjoying it?
Don't be afraid to create something entirely new. Move first and let the world catch up later. You set the frequency and let reality follow.
Stepping Into Sovereignty
There is a big difference between aligning with something that already exists and becoming the source yourself. When you step into your own light, you’re creating something entirely new from scratch. There is no established framework to rely on, no external validation to reassure you, and no collective belief holding you up. There is only your inner knowing.
Following an established path—whether a business model, belief system, or proven method—means plugging into an energy that already has momentum. The structure is in place. Trust already exists. Success can feel easier because the world recognizes and accepts it.
This is why courses, programs, and replicated paths feel safe. They carry collective belief. But when you rely on someone else’s current, you’re operating within their frequency. It works—but it limits you to their vision, their paradigm, and their ceiling.
Most people never fully step into their own frequency because they wait for validation before they believe in themselves. Those who create something truly transformative move without confirmation. They remain steady until the world catches up.
Stepping into your own light is the path of the true Innovator and the Pioneer. You are not following a map—you are drawing it as you go. At first, There is no evidence of success. No applause. No external confirmation or validation. And that absence is what makes it feel so unsafe and destabilizing.
The hardest part is the delay. There is silence and uncertainty. But the moment you become anchored in your own authority, the external world eventually responds.
There is so much power in creating without proof. When your faith and trust and belief is the only foundation, the world won’t reflect it back immediately. When you stay anchored in your knowing, reality eventually reorganizes around you.
️"The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”
Maya Angelou
Other Practical Ways to Find Your Authenticity
Raising your energetic frequency isn’t about crystals, linen, affirmations, or curated spiritual aesthetics. It’s about radical honesty with who you are at your core, and sometimes doing "the harder thing" - taking action when you'd rather numb out or distract yourself instead.
Optimize Your Space - A well-aligned space makes it easier to hear yourself. Clear pathways, supportive lighting, intentional placement, and balanced elements calm the nervous system. When your body feels safe, your truth becomes accessible. Authenticity is harder when your environment keeps you dysregulated.
Breathe Consciously – Slow, intentional breathing to reconnect with your body and nervous system.
Sit in Stillness – Regular meditation or quiet time without trying to “fix” anything.
Unplug and Detox – Occasionally fast from food, media, or stimulation to gain clarity.
Connect with Heart – Focus on feelings of love, care, or gratitude to ground yourself emotionally.
Move Freely – Dance, stretch, or move intuitively to release stored tension and trapped emotion.
Journal Honestly – Write about uncomfortable truths, patterns, and shadows without self-censorship.
Spend time in Nature – Ground yourself physically and mentally through direct contact with the natural world.
Bring Presence – Treat ordinary moments and daily tasks with attention and care.
Listen Inward – Reduce noise so you can notice subtle inner guidance and intuition.
Express Yourself Fully – Allow yourself to cry, yell, sing, or release emotion safely and consciously. Say what you actually think, feel, and need, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Laugh Often – Use humor and play to regulate your nervous system and soften self-judgment.
"Your legacy doesn’t have to be famous. It simply has to be real.”
Amie McNee
A Better World Awaits
Authenticity and integrity are the clearest expressions of our highest self—not something we perform, but something we live.
When we tell the truth, align our actions with our values, and show up without masks, we create trust within ourselves and with one another. That trust is the foundation of healthier relationships, ethical leadership, and communities that can actually thrive.
Ultimately, this work matters because a better world doesn’t come from forcing perfection or performance—it comes from alignment and coherence. When people are authentically themselves inside and out, they act with clarity, care, and responsibility. That’s not just personal healing—it’s cultural medicine.
When people are willing to be real, accountable, and rooted in what they know to be right - when we live authentically and with integrity, we don’t just elevate our own lives—we quietly, steadily raise the standard for what’s possible for everyone.
Choose Presence over Performance. Truth over Trends. Integrity over Image. Authenticity over Approval.
I am not your cup of tea
because I am made too strong
and frankly, too hot for you to enjoy
maybe you can tolerate me
in tiny sips but I don’t want
to be tolerated. I want to be
devoured by those who value
all I am and who do not wish
I was in any way watered down
to meet your tepid tastes.
